Due to the manifestation of occupational injuries and accidents in the mine industry in WA, both safety advisors and occupational hygienists are required to achieve better risk controls and prevention. In order to pursue effective cooperation of both parties, this paper illustrates current regulatory responses, cooperative management systems and a new risk assessment conceptual model. Both parties have the same aims to prevent occupational injuries and accidents. However, due to their different knowledge backgrounds and possible limited experience with chemical and physical elements, a new conceptual model for risk management is outlined to assist both parties’ team cooperation in investigating the causes of any incidents and provide practicable recommendations.
